A Brief Insight

Woy Woy Judo Club, bourne out of the 1770 Judo Club, was established by Sensei Danny Simmons (Kodokan 5th Dan,) in 1982, making it the longest running martial arts club on the Central Coast, Sensei Danny Simmons Snr (1941-2014) traditional Japanese judo teachings still stands today with all who enter the dojo learning the art of judo and the fundamentals of self-discipline and respect that comes with it

 

Woy Woy Judo Club was originally based at the Woy Woy Sport and Rec Centre (now known as the Peninsula Community Centre) where it thrived as a family run Judo club with a community spirit. Since opening, we have taught traditional Japanese Judo as well as having strong competition values. 

 

Our club is family run, and is a not for profit organization, and has been very heavily involved with the community for over 40 years with fundraising events such as BBQs and Judo Displays at town and school fetes to shopping centers, our club has received many accolades from community services such as Rotary and Gosford City Council, Our club is a Level 1 Good Sports Club, We have also been recognized over the years by Judo NSW as Outstanding club of the year and Inspired club of the year, We were also awarded Best Regional Club of 2017, and have a 3 star rating by the Judo Federation of Australia in their Star Club Program for the development of the sport.

 

Woy Woy Judo Club has produced Local, State, National & International Representatives & Champions who have journeyed to Japan, Europe, Asia, South America the USA and Canada, the Pacific Islands and every State and Territory of Australia to represent our club and Nation in Judo with outstanding achievements.

 

We aim to create a safe & friendly environment for all members & stress the importance of self– discipline & respect in or out of the Dojo.
